Teacher arrested over Kelantan football rioting


KOTA BARU: A teacher, who had fire crackers in his pockets, and two students have been arrested by Kelantan police following rioting that took place after the FA Cup football between Kelantan and Negri Sembilan at Stadium Sultan Mohamad IV here on Tuesday night.
Angry Kelantan fans torched a police land rover and damaged several cars after Kelantan was defeated 1-2 by Negri Sembilan.
State police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said the teacher had at least eight mercun bola firecrackers in his pockets while the students were arrested for throwing projectiles at police.
“The three have been remanded for two days and may be charged in court. I will be meeting with Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) president Tan Sri Anuar Musa to discuss the possibility of holding the next football match scheduled here at a neutral venue,” he added
In the incident on Tuesday, two constables were injured when angry football fans torched a police land rover and damaged several cars after Kelantan was defeated 1-2 by Negri Sembilan.
