Logging firm vs Pahang: It’s complicated

KUANTAN: The high-profile court case in which the Pahang government was ordered to pay RM63mil to a logging company has taken a new twist -- Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob claimed that the state government has new evidence and has filed a new application.

The Mentri Besar said the state government discovered new evidence involving perjury, fraud, forgery and conflict of interest which were not brought up when the case was brought up at the Court of Appeal and Federal Court.

“The state government’s case has been dismissed on technical grounds and we have not had the opportunity to properly present our case.

“We have filed a new application and it will be heard on April 24. The legal proceeding will continue,” Adnan told reporters during a tea-break of the state assembly sitting here Tuesday.

He called for the press conference in response to the Monday ruling after the state government failed in its bid to set aside the judgment sum which was affirmed by the Federal Court on Sept 17 last year.
