MACC forwards probe papers related to Fairus for action

PENANG: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) sent its investigation papers relating to alleged graft involving former Penang Deputy Chief Minister I, Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin, to the prosecution division on Friday.
MACC director of investigations Datuk Shukri Abdull said his side had studied the papers and found that they were in order.
"We handed over the investigation papers today to the prosecution division for further action.
"At the investigation level, they are complete but if the prosecution division wants us to continue investigation or add more facts we will do so," he said when contacted by Bernama here Friday.
Asked when prosecution will be carried out, he said that depended on the prosecution division.
"Be patient, let the prosecution division study the case," he said. Shukri declined to comment when asked if Mohammad Fairus would be arrested and called on all quarters not to speculate on the matter.
MACC opened investigation papers on allegations that two Penang Parti Keadilan Rakyat leaders were suspected of being involved in controversial quarry operations in Seberang Perai.
The allegations were made by national PKR Youth exco member Amizuddin Ahmat in February and are believed to be the reason for Mohammad Fairus's resignation. - Bernama
